AWE Ventures Company: Lia Diagnostics
Oct 8, 2018
Lia Diagnostics designs, develops and commercializes water-dispersible and biodegradable diagnostics and assays. The first product, the Lia Pregnancy Test, is the first, flushable, biodegradable FDA-cleared pregnancy test. Its proprietary coating technology, combined with non-woven and paper techniques has eliminated the need for plastic or batteries, creating a new category of water-dispersible, eco-friendly diagnostics.
Where are you in the life cycle of your business?
We are an early stage company.
How has your funding from AWE Ventures powered by Ben Franklin helped to advance your business?
Lia's funding from AWE Ventures powered by Ben Franklin has helped the company to advance the commercialization of our first product, Lia, enabling us to obtain FDA clearance in November 2017.
Have you utilized the AWE network; and if so, how has that positively impacted your role as a founder?
We have had the luck of being involved with AWE since 2015. Since that time, the AWE network has connected us with advisors and mentors, vendors, potential investors, and expanded our personal networks. Additionally, we have had the pleasure to join AWE members at select networking and professional development events.
What do you need to advance your company?
Lia is currently scaling our manufacturing process to support a product launch later this year. We are looking for valuable connections in the diagnostics, paper, sustainability, and manufacturing industries.
