AWE Ventures Spotlight: Astarte Medical

Aug 21, 2018

Astarte Medical has developed a suite of products to improve outcomes in the first 1000 days of life. NICUtrition, leverages data analytics to standardize feeding and quantify gut health in preterm infants. By leveraging EMR data and empowering clinical teams to better tailor care and feeding, we can reduce length of stay and improve outcomes for preterm infants and ultimately for mom and baby.

Where are you in the life cycle of your business?
We are a start-up, with a pilot pending for our first product.

How has your funding from AWE Ventures powered by Ben Franklin helped to advance your business?
BFTP was our initial investor alongside founders to validate our strategy and has been a tremendous supporter of Astarte Medical. Support has included a case study from the CEO Council for Growth, a feature on a local radio station, resources for a summer intern and funding to support our grant-writing efforts.

Have you utilized the AWE network; and if so, how has that positively impacted your role as a founder?
Not yet, but hope to become more exposed to the members and their network to accelerate our company milestones.

What do you need to advance your company?
We need introductions to hospital executives and funding.

Founder Bio - Tracey Warren
I've spent the last 18 years in venture capital and early stage company formation. I founded and funded local start-ups from Penn, Princeton and the greater Philadelphia region. I have spent the last 6 years focused on women and infant health and supporting start-ups in this space. Having met my scientific co-founder, Kate Gregory and understanding the critical challenges in early infant nutrition and gut health, I was compelled to found, along with longterm colleagues, Astarte Medical in 2016.
