Raegan Moya-Jones Reaches Career Vertex for High-Growth, Female Founders
Jul 23, 2018
Raegan Moya-Jones, the female founder who nurtured muslin swaddles and other baby products into a $100-million global business, is the winner of the inaugural AWE Vertex Award presented by the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE).
Moya-Jones is the founder of aden + anais, a brand inspired by the soft, breathable fabrics of her native Australia. From her kitchen table in Brooklyn, she grew the company into a provider of products that soothe babies, including soft disposable diapers, skin care solutions and an electronic feeding and sleep system. In 2014, she was named one of EY's Entrepreneurs of the Year. In 2015, aden + anais was named to SmartCEO’s 2015 Future 50 list, which recognizes the nation’s fastest-growing companies.
“Beginning this year, AWE will present the Vertex Award annually to a woman founder who, having reached the summit, has changed the face and direction of women’s high-growth entrepreneurship,” says Ellie Stang, AWE President. “Raegan embodies the spirit of a woman who has successfully scaled a business into an international powerhouse through focus, innovation and perseverance.”
AWE is the premier regional resource for women entrepreneurs who have moved past how-to workshops and incubators. They have founded successful companies – and are poised to achieve more.
That is why the organization has launched this award. A vertex is the highest point – of a journey, of achievements, and of stars. In a celestial sphere, the vertex is the point toward which the motion of a group of stars is directed. AWE sees this award as a way to spotlight true, high-growth achievement and hold it up as a benchmark to motivate others to follow in the same direction.
Specifically, recipients of AWE’s Vertex Award are female founders who have:
- Founded and successfully scaled a high-growth company or companies
- Moved the needle for women founders, women leaders and business at large
- Inspired future women high-growth founders through their visible and viable example
Moya-Jones’ work with aden + anais certainly makes her a vertex, but she didn’t stop there. The mother of four young daughters, Moya-Jones has also made a positive impact on the global community, founding a partnership with Product(RED), a division of the ONE Campaign, to create products whose proceeds will benefit a fund dedicated to providing medications to mothers with HIV with the goal of an AIDS-free generation. She is the author of a book, Leap, to be published in 2019, detailing her growth from a sole proprietor, still working a full-time job, to the leader of a diverse, international brand.
Moya-Jones will receive the award at The Intersection, an event that brings together AWE’s entire, expansive network to identify new founders with promise, connect founders who have already achieved, and recognize the community that supports both of their efforts to grow. It is a rare opportunity to connect with AWE’s dynamic network face- to-face and to celebrate women’s high-growth entrepreneurship.
The Intersection will be held on November 12, 2018 from 5 to 8 at Convene at the Cira Center, 2929 Arch Street, Philadelphia.
